Spaghetti or noodles are a long, cylindrical pasta of Italian & Sicilian origin. It is made of semolina or flour & water. A variety of Pasta dishes are based on it. Every one has its own way of preparation.

Chowmein are stir- fried noodles, the name being an English language corruption of the Chinese Chao mian.. The dish is most popular in Chinese Cuisine, but its variation have been developed all over the world, acc to preferences and taste of respective people. Although it is particularly popular in US and Britannia. They are versatile and there are so many ways to prepare them, stir fry, pan fry, steamed, dry etc.

Before I entered the world of cooking I always wondered how people at KFC made such crunchy & crispy yet tender Zinger burger. This delicious burger always caught my eye. So one fine evening, I thought of giving it a try. It turned out soo great and yummy that i could not stop licking my fingers..... it was actually "finger lickin' good". Aloo Methi (Potatoes with Fenugreek Leaves)

Fenugreek leaves have been used as food, spices and medicine since ancient times. It is one of the nature's great gift to mankind. These are very aromatic and have a unique flavor. It has strong peculiar odor, which is really pleasant. It has a tangy bitter taste and has been known to lower cholesterol level in diabetics. It is usually eaten boiled in China. It is also an ancient spice, usually used in pickles. It is also sometimes used in preparing breads, or used in fritters. Fenugreek seeds when mixed in yogurt can be used as hair conditioner. They are not only rich in calcium, phosphorus, iron but also in minerals and vitamin contents. They give a tangy flavor to dishes. They are known among people to cure acidity and burning sensation of stomach. 

Potatoes and Fenugreek leaves/ Aloo Methi are a lovely combination together. I learnt this recipe from my mom-in-law. This recipe has very few ingredients still it tastes excellent. It is most famous Punjabi cuisine. Both in India and Pakistan. It is mostly served with hot roti/naan and can even be stuffed in breads. Here goes the recipe:

Aloo methi, fenugreek, green vegetables, indian cooking, kasoori methi aloo, methi, methi recipe, potato recipe, Potatoes with fenugreek leaves, sabzi, side dish for roti, Vegetables, vegetarian recipes,


Ingredients:

Fenugreek Leaves                             2 bunch 
Potatoes                                             3 peeled, cubed
Onions                                                2 medium (sliced)
Tomato                                               2 (chopped)
Oil                                                       2 wooden spoon (doi)
Green Chili                                         2
Red Chili powder                               1 1/2 tsp. 
Red Chili dried                                   2          
Turmeric Powder                              1/4 tsp.
Garlic Paste                                      1 1/2 tsp.
Ginger Paste                                     1 1/2 tsp.
Salt                                                    1/4 tsp
Cumin Powder (Zeera)                      1 tsp.
Coriander Powder                             1 tsp.
Whole Spices Powder                       Pinch
Coriander and mint leaves                Optional , few





Procedure:

Chop methi/fenugreek leaves, appox 1/2 inch as shown in pic below. Soak them in water for 5-10 minutes & then drain & wash properly. (You can boil it in 1/2 cup water if u want, until it is cooked properly). Set aside.

 Heat oil, and add the fenugreek seeds, followed by the chopped onions. Fry until onions are golden brown.


Then add garlic and ginger paste, green chilies and the chopped tomatoes, followed by all other spices. Fry for few minutes. 


Add cubed and peeled potatoes and methi/fenugreek leaves. Fry this for few minutes. Then keep the lid covered for 30 minutes at low flame or until potatoes and methi leaves are well cooked and oil separates. Sprinkle garam masala & chopped coriander and serve with hot Roti :)

Sandwiches are a simple and delicious way to make a meal! Best used as an appetizer & snack or even a simple, quick & easy breakfast, to have with tea. They are a light meal. Sandwich is basically a food item composed of 2 or more slices of bread with one or more fillings in between them. These are unanimously popular type of food used in lunch boxes. And can be taken to school, offices & work. They usually consist of a combination of salad vegetables, meat, cheese, sauces etc. You can also use the bread itslef or it can be coated with different things to enhance its flavor & texture. They are of different varieties, like cheese sandwiches, chicken tikka sandwiches, club sandwiches, etc.

Vermicelli Pudding (Sawayio ka zarda)

Vermicelli (Wheat Noodles) Pudding is a very delicious, easy to make, quick sweet that u can make it in no time. This recipe uses vermicelli as its main ingredient. What u have to do is to only make sugar syrup and add vermicelli in it. Yess!! It's really thatt simple :) Vermicelli is a traditional type of pasta, made from semolina, and is known as Seviyan in Urdu and Hindi, and semiya in Tamil. Before I have told u some varieties of vermicelli like;

Sheer Khorma


This pudding is full of texture flavored of cardamom. U can also add nuts in it of ur desired choice.

Note: U can use the left over sugar syrup of Gulab Jamuns in it.

Cake Rusks are a hard-dry sweet biscotti or a twice baked bread, shown in the pic below..


If u are a cake rusk & pineapple lover, u will love this dessert! I just love sweets!! I might live without sweets but my hubby is much more crazy for sweets than I am and This pudding just keeps our spirits high! :P so here is another recipe of a dessert which I got to know after my marriage, when I got into kitchen and this I first had at the famous bakery here in Pakistan i.e. gourmet, served in little cups. I was soo impressed but my curiousy went high to know what its ingredients were.. So, using my intellectuals, lol :P I tried this recipe. And Believe me it turned out soo yummy that I couldn't put my hands off. Sorry diet watchers!! But it exactly tasted like gourmet bakers. This pineapple and cake rusk delight is just an easy recipe to follow. Only 4 ingredients woww!! The crunchy cake rusks, pineapple-studded whipped cream are just soo marvelous. It is a perfect summer dessert, best served when chilled. This one is extremely easy to make, and requires no cooking. So, if you want to try out some new bakery style dessert for your weekend party, here goes the recipe: (you can serve them in little cups too)..

Ingredients:

Cream                                                             1 pack

Sugar                                                               5-8 tbsp.
Cake rusks                                                      10-15 crushed properly
Pineapple                                                         1 small tin, fibers shredded


Procedure:

           In a bowl whip 1 pack of cream, sugar and few tbsps of pineapple juice (optional) until fluffy and smooth. U can beat it with the help of hand if u don't have beater. (u can save 2 tbsps to spread its layer on top at the end for neatness.)

Next shred the fibers of pineapple pieces and add in whipped cream.

Next crush Cake rusks (Biscotti, easily available in markets) and add in whipped cream.

Finally, fold all of the above mentioned things into the cream gently. Spread the layer of cream on the top. Garnish with pineapple slices & wafers. Extremely delicious Cake rusk pudding/delight is ready. Chill for 2-3 hrs. Serve cold :) Believe me its just soo yummyy!!

Note: U can twist the recipe by replacing pineapple with fruit cocktail and instead of making Cake rusks crumbs.. enlayer them in a dish and pour the cream over it! YUM. Let it rest in fridge for hours n then serve!!

A mutton/lamb leg is a substantial piece of meat taken from the leg of sheep or goat. Orange Cake

Today I am going to discuss with u rather a simpler variety - Orange cake. Orange cake is one of the favorite cakes of mine. The natural orange taste in it makes it really special. Although old fashioned but still its best to have as a snack. It has more of a texture of a pound cake. Rich, moist and incredibly mouth-watering light fluffy dessert, which I love to bake. It has light yellow color due to the fresh orange juice added in it. This citrusy cake brings warmth and flavor to its utmost. This was one of the easiest & best cakes u can have which is extremely soft and have a powerful flavor of orange. The timing is really tricky while u r planning to bake a cake. Always remember to use ingredients at room temperature and do not over-mix + over-bake it. This might result in a dry & messy cake. Follow the instructions word to word and you will find yourself on the perfect side in baking a cake. 

This is a strictly NO vanilla extract recipe. Why waste the taste of fresh oranges?
